Sited on the harbour’s edge and just one train stop out of town, Orakei Point is in a key location for intensification of use. Mitchell & Stout , with Richard Priest, worked on the initial masterplan for the overall precinct and then were asked by the developers to design 146 housing units for Stage 1.
With the pressure of intensification our aim was to maximise sun and views to all the apartments and creatte view shafts through from Orakei Road. There is a variety of apartment types. Ground level town house courtyards open onto the communal central space. Upper apartments have landscaped roof terraces. Carparking is all underground to allow a landscaped pedestrian friendly environment to link all th five blocks to the waters edge.
